I have ordered and paid for 10 tickets for the above show. The tickets are £4.50 each and allows car plus admission for 2 people. I will take the tickets to the next club meeting on the 13th Feb.
5 TVR's, a BMW and an MGF set out for the run to Tan Hill. The weather was dry but over cast. First stop was for a coffee and toasted tea cakes in Settle at the "Nude Man" café, and all going smoothly and well.
Not long after leaving Settle on route for the Ribble Head Viaduct I realised my Sat Nav had lost connection to the GP system! and I had passed the turn of for Hawes. Andy and Shirley came to my rescue and volunteered to lead the way back to our original route. Whilst sorting this GPS problem Alan Smith said he was going to cut off and head to Lancaster which was fine I asked Alan if he would run at the back of the group so no body would follow him. Problem number 2!. Rob and Julie were still behind Alan when we set off and you guessed it, they followed Alan thinking we were still in convoy. So now there are 5 Cars heading for Hawes and 2 towards Lancaster. Knowing Rob and Julie had a working Sat Nav and a map book I had every confidence they would pass the initiative test and catch up with us later. Just past Hawes is the turn off on to single track roads up to Tan Hill and I was pleased to see Rob had now joined us again so Well Done! you are now a fully Qualified member of the Blackpool Region "where the hell are we" Group. After negotiating a couple of steep uphill hairpin bends that would fit in well with the Italian Alps we finally arrived at the pub which at 1732 ft is the highest in England. It was packed and very warm inside now doubt due to the triple glazing and a large coal fire. Most of us opted for drinks and a bag of crisps as the predicted waiting time for a meal was 45 minutes. After an hour or so most of us departed taking the fast road back via Kirby Stephen and the M6. Andy and Shirley were starving so stayed for the meal along with Rob and Julie. This was not however the end of my problems as I decided to top up the petrol tank for the blast down the Motorway But some how managed to put just under 5 litre of V Power Diesel in the half full tank before I realised the pump was black and not green! I quickly moved to another pump and filled up to the brim with Proper V Power. Car ran like a dream all the way home where I put more VP in the tank to dilute the fuel. All seems OK thank goodness. Further to my posts on the Blackpool FB pages. The weather is forecast and dry but over cast so should be ok. I intend to leave the Tickled Trout at 9:30., travelling along the A59 to Gisburn where we will turn off onto the "B" roads. Hope you can come along Dave At the meeting on last Thursday night we passed round the menu and we started the list of attendees. It stood at 16 people at the end of the night. Some people having already informed Heath they intend to come
Below is the menu and if you intend to come please inform Heath or myself of the number of places you require and menu choice if possible. Heath will require £10 pp deposit. Last year there were 25 attendees and I have provisionally booked for the same number. THIS IS THE LINK TO THE MENU italianorchard.com www.italianorchard.comlick here to edit. The weather forecast has worsened since yesterday with a 50% chance of rain from 8:30 am throughout the day so I won't be leading the run to Sculptures in the Park. Sorry about this but pushing Ann round a park in the wheelchair in the rain is no fun, and pretty impossible on grass.
The forecast in West Bretton (where the event is held) is a bad one (see BBC Chart below. If the bad forecast continues or worsens I will not being going to the event. If anyone wants to go check if anyone else has turned up at the Tickled Trout at 8:45 and then make your own way to the event . The address is West Bretton and the Post code is WF4 4LG.
I will make my final decision tomorrow (Saturday) evening and post on here. Christmas Lunch Sunday 15th December.
I have booked the lunch at the Italian Orchard for 1pm and meet up for drinks from 12:30. There is a £10 pp deposit required so please bring your cash to next club meeting on the 10th October. You don't have to pre order your menu choices, but if you could let me know at the club meeting it would help the Chef. Election of R.O.and Deputy R.O.
Both positions are elected every year and if there are any “volunteers” who would like to stand for either position please let Heath know by the 20th of September. Heath is willing to stand as R.O. for another year and Dave Welton is willing to act as the Deputy R.O. This in no way procludes applications from other people should they wish to stand for either position. Both Heath and I would welcome some new blood with fresh ideas to take the Blackpool Region forward. I have volunteered to take over the running of the TVR Blackpool Region Website as well as administering the Blackpool Region F.B. Pages . Hopefully they will then carry the same information. Christamas Lunch We propose to return to the “Italian Orchard” on Sunday the 15thof December, as this is no too early in the month and not too near Christmas. Suggest we meet for drinks at 12:30 with the meal at 13:00. The Lunch menu costs £19.90 pp and a copy of the menu is shown below. Please let Heath or myself know if you are coming and how many places you require. We intend to meetup at the Tickled Trout in Preston at 8:45 am and leave at 9:0 am. The address is West Bretton, Wakefield WF4 4LG Travel time from Wrea Green is 94 minutes and the milage is 79 miles Illuminations run on Sunday 13th October. More details will be posted soon UK HOTCARS BLACKPOOL ILLUMINATIONS CONVOY 2nd November· Hosted by UK Hotcarsand The Dip Monkey Garage CONVOY WILL BE MEETING AT OCEAN PLAZA MCDONALDS 1800hrs... to be leaving shortly after and convoy through to Blackpool. More plans will be put in place for a final meeting point once we’ve passed through the illuminations, maybe a chip shop or plan a half hour in the arcades and grab a stick of rock kind of thing ? will update nearer the time once plans are made... in mean time open to suggestions... CONVOY ETIQUETTE ? right guys many of you will have convoyed with us before so will know how it works! We will have several cars with radios from front to back. We will make sure everyone knows what the radio cars are and god forbid we get split up you will know which car to stay with. To prevent the convoy being broken up, try and stick together, we keep to the speed limits, and for example in traffic hot spots where there is more than one lane... use both lanes, stand much better chance at getting to short rows through the traffic lights than one big row... little bit of common sense and stick together ? |
