Lakeland Motor Museum 30 May 10
6 cars and 11 people met up at Forton Sevices on the M6 for a visit to
the new Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow on Sunday 30th of May. We
arranged to meet up with the South Cumbria members for coffee and
biscuits break at the Crooklands Hotel prior to going to the Museum. We
met a new S Cumbria member called George who had bought a Chimeara 2
weeks earlier, and it was his first run out with the club. It was the
Museum’s first weekend of opening since they moved from Holker Hall.
The new premises and displays are a step up from the old Museum and the
Café, with views over the river, was excellent. Well worth a visit if
you are ever in the Southern Lakes area.
Some of you will know that I have managed to get lost on a few of the recent runs, but today it was a communication error! We were stood in the Car park of the Museum prior to coming home and there was some discussion about calling in at the Ice cream place in Pilling on the way home. As I'm no longer allowed ice cream I decided to come straight back to Wrea Green. Well I noticed George in his blue chim following me along the M6 and I was ready to wave him off at Lancaster as he lives in Morecambe. However, George follows me all the way home. Well I thought he probably wants to ask me about the Car club or about my cars. WRONG !! he gets out of his car in my driveway and said where is the Ice cream place!! WOOPS! anyway I gave him a cup of tea instead!
