Autosport Show 2011
Some of our members went on the Thursday to the Trade day, but Jim and Carol Walsh and I went down on Saturday. The main objective being for Jim and I to get fitted out with Race suits , helmets, shoes etc so at least we will look good this coming season even if we come last in all our events!. ..............Not quite the “David Coultard” look I was hoping for!!

The Show was less busy than I anticipated but still good. I thought the Live show was not up to the standard of previous years. The Reliant Robin racing in the “Live Arena” was the best bit with at least four of them ending up on their roofs. In My opinion the best sounding car was the Nissan GT and the car of the show was the Gold coloured Mc Claren.

Whilst there we bumped into Dave Courtney and John Simpson. John stated he was hoping to take part in some Historic race series this coming year
This Carbon Fibre sculpture is actually the Toyota TF108 Pirelli test car. They have been using to develop the tyres for the coming season. I have never seen as many aerodynamic devices on any car. The only place remaining must be the sides of the drivers helmet.(I know the tops of helmets are already designed to give optimum airflow into the intake)

Not the view a TVR driver wants to see in their rear view mirror but it could be fun seeing just how good the Lotus Evora really is.

I always did like VW camper vans but this one is only 5 foot high and I think had a jet engine!
