Heath and I went to the TVR Speed Championship / Classic Marques dinner held in Coventry. The Charity supported this year was Marfan which is a genetic disorder that affects the body’s connective tissue. Connective tissue holds all the body’s cells, organs and tissue together. It also plays an important role in helping the body grow and develop properly.
One of our fellow competitors Richard Bream is affected by this genetic disorder. Money was donated by a number of means including Giving £1 for every point you scored in the Championship. This raised over £1,100. An auction was held and Bill Campion donated a Petronas Cap signed by Lewis Hamilton which has currently achieved £250. A framed flyer of the New Griffith was signed by Les Edgar, Martin Lilly, and other celebrities at the NEC Show in November. These two items raised a further £850. So a big thanks to Bill And Heath Briggs for the kind donations.
Les presented Bill with his trophy for winning the Northern area of the TVR Speed Championship at the NEC Car show last weekend. Congratulations Bill and well driven all year. We will all be "gunning " for you in 2018!
You have heard of 3 men in a boat well we had 7 men in a “Discovery” this month for a trip down to the NEC Car Show. Let’s say it was just a snug fit as 3 of us were over 6’ 3” tall!!
The first call was at the TVR stand to see the new Giffith, it does look great in the flesh and is far better than any of the photos seen to date. The photos don’t show the fine detail like the slight double bubble above the driver and passenger seats or the slight convex shape on the e...dge of the wheel arches. The only comment we made is that the filler cover design / position could be better.
Bill Campion was the only person to get next to the car when he was presented with his winner trophy for the Northern region of the TVR Speed Championship. The Championship organiser’s Steve Hunter and Jo Briers arranged for Les Edgar to present the trophy to bill on the stand next to the Griffith. Photo should be in Sprint in the January edition.
On the Friday the Award for best car club was given to TVR and a silver salver was in pride of place on the stand. I thought the Club stand was also the best in the show and I am sure Les Edgar was proud of what the Club achieved.
Below are Dave and Heath giving the Thumbs up to the Griffith, and Ray and Bill photo bombing the shot!
As I stated at the last Club Meeting I will be going in my Discovery and can take 6 passengers. If you are interested in coming with me please contact me by e mail or phone. When I know the final numbers I will arrange pick up points and times. David Welton
