Les presented Bill with his trophy for winning the Northern area of the TVR Speed Championship at the NEC Car show last weekend. Congratulations Bill and well driven all year. We will all be "gunning " for you in 2018!
You have heard of 3 men in a boat well we had 7 men in a “Discovery” this month for a trip down to the NEC Car Show. Let’s say it was just a snug fit as 3 of us were over 6’ 3” tall!!
The first call was at the TVR stand to see the new Giffith, it does look great in the flesh and is far better than any of the photos seen to date. The photos don’t show the fine detail like the slight double bubble above the driver and passenger seats or the slight convex shape on the e...dge of the wheel arches. The only comment we made is that the filler cover design / position could be better.
Bill Campion was the only person to get next to the car when he was presented with his winner trophy for the Northern region of the TVR Speed Championship. The Championship organiser’s Steve Hunter and Jo Briers arranged for Les Edgar to present the trophy to bill on the stand next to the Griffith. Photo should be in Sprint in the January edition.
On the Friday the Award for best car club was given to TVR and a silver salver was in pride of place on the stand. I thought the Club stand was also the best in the show and I am sure Les Edgar was proud of what the Club achieved.
Below are Dave and Heath giving the Thumbs up to the Griffith, and Ray and Bill photo bombing the shot!
As I stated at the last Club Meeting I will be going in my Discovery and can take 6 passengers. If you are interested in coming with me please contact me by e mail or phone. When I know the final numbers I will arrange pick up points and times. David Welton
22 people are now going so if you have not already made your booking and still want to go contact Heath ASAP, then give him your £10 per person deposit.
In 1st Place Bill Campion
In 2nd Place Steve Dennis
In 3rd Place Dave Wilkins
Well done boys and well driven
Heath has now agreed to become the Regions R.O. so that he can be the focal point for e mails and phone calls related to Blackpool Region. The position of Deputy R.O. will now become vacant, any volunteers?. I have informed the club and they will replace Shirley’s name with Heaths IN Sprint magazine and all other club documentation.

There will be two races of the TVR Championship on the 9th Sept Don't yet know what time qualification and racing starts. Tickets on Line are £10 for adults and £15 on the gate, OAP's get in for £10 on the gate
This month's meeting will be another run out - meet at the Kingfisher as usual at 7pm with a view to setting off by 7.15pm for a run up to the Stork at Condor Green just for a drink. Not many of us chose to eat at the last run out and we sort of ended up in two groups in the pub. Meeting at 7pm allows the majority of people to eat beforehand.
Suggest going up the A6 to Lancaster and then coming back down to Condor Green (It's near Glasson Dock).
On the way back we could split into two groups - Group one going back across Cockerham Marsh to Blackpool area and the second cutting across to the A6 / M6 and back down to Preston.
Thanks to Dave Welton for the suggestion - see you all on Thursday.
The next monthly meeting takes place on Thursday 8th June and the plan is to have another run out with a slightly earlier start. Can we please meet at 6.30pm at The Kingfisher with a view to setting off at 6.45pm - hopefully you will all have had chance to cast your election vote by that time! The destination will be the Aspinall Arms at Mitton (BB7 9PQ) which should take around 45 minutes via the route attached. If you would like to eat, please let me know so I can give them an indication of numbers. If you will just be having a drink and a catch up, that's fine too as there are plenty of tables dotted around the bar area (to drink or eat) and outside if the weather is good. This is the link to the pub's website for you to have a look at menus etc. http://www.brunningandprice.co.uk/aspinallarms/homepage/
See you then
