Lytham Hall 11 Aug 10
Despite the show supposedly being fully booked, a few quick messages
on the radios when we arrived and Russ Larcombe, Julian and I were
whisked to the centre of the show ground. Would a Porsche get this
treatment? Oh I forgot, a certain drummer in a soon to be well known
band, who had come in his VW, had to park in the general car park. read more
American and Classic Car 2 Aug 10
The American and Classic Car meet that has been held @ Lowther Gardens for the last few months now has a new home. It will now be on the car park in front of the shops in St. Annes Square from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. It will be held every 2nd Thursday starting the 12th August. This is the same area that the bikers use on Monday nights for their very successful weekly meets.
Everyone is invited, American and Classic cars, pickups, bikes etc.
Lytham Hall Classic Car Show 31 July 10 - Dave Welton
Although I was too late to book a stand at the above show on Sunday 8th August, if we arrive
in a convoy and park along the entrance road we will "create our own
stand" It will cost £6 to get in but it is a good show and the house
and stables cafe are good as well.
I propose we meet in the car park at the "Outside inn hotel" adjacent
to B&Q just of the Blackpool end of the M55 at 10:00am and leave at 10:15

Flexible CSS Teaser 25 Jan 10
This is a box with flexible height and width. It uses two background images (tsr-l.gif and tsr-r.gif) to create the rounded corners and the top and bottom borders. CSS is used for the left and right borders. This box will expand vertically to contain any amount of text, of almost any size. How far it will be able to expand horizontally before it breaks depends on the size of the background images used. This example will break at a width of 1600 pixels. In most cases, that will be overkill, and one of the background images can be narrowed a bit to save a few hundred bytes.
View source to see the XHTML and CSS. You may also want to read the related blog posts for further notes and discussion: CSS Teaser Box and CSS teaser box revisited.

Leighton Hall 11 July 10
A trip to Leighton Hall car show near Carnforth on the 11th of July
saw four cars out for the run up the A6 from Preston. It was a pleasant
change to go to the Southern Lake District by this route instead of the
usual blast up the M6. As you can see on the photo's , courtesy of
Carol Wals, there was a very good turnout of all types of cars and
motor bikes. read more
Desparate Dan 9 July 10

Our local tractor pulling team from Elswick (member Jack Hull Cerbera) whose tractor will be displaying at BNG, will be running their multi-V8 powered monster locally at the Great Eccleston Show Field on the 18th of July as part of The Great Eccleston Agricultural Show.
To really see the flames from the exhausts there is a night pull on the 28th and Day pull on the 29th of August in the European Invitational British Championship Rounds again at the Great Eccleston Show Field http://www.nwtpc.co.uk/
The tractor is called Desparate Dan and is powered by 4 , 540 cubic inch (8.8 Litres) , V8 Big Block Chevrolet engines . These are supercharged using 8-71 Littlefield Hi-Helix retro fit blowers and run on methanol fuel . Each engine produces approximately 1600 horsepower. For the 4.5 tonne class , the rules allow them to add a 5th engine , which is a 572 cubic inch (9.4 litre) V8 , Arias Chevy Block , supercharged with a 14-71 SCS blower , again using methanol fuel , producing in the region of 2000 horsepower
I make that a total of 8400 BHP.

Isle of Man Trip Report 27 April 10
We are at the Forton Services, where are you? I’m at home say’s Dave Hothersall. So began our weekend in the Isle of Man. Every credit to Dave he was only a couple of minutes behind us at the ferry terminal. So that was his first high speed run of the weekend. Dave Cahill had gone across the previous day so he could watch the sprint at Sloc hill on the west of the Island, and as I had not received any frantic phone calls from him I knew the travel and accommodation arrangements were ok. read more

Aintree "55/55" Classic Sprint and Speed Trials 12 April 10
Aintree Circuit Club's "55/55" Sprint and Speed Trials on Sunday 16th May is to offer a £100 cash bonus* for the fastest time set by saloons, racing cars and sports cars. This £300 prize fund is in addition to offering free display space to any club entering ten cars.
Entries are increasing rapidly but this incentive is designed to encourage even more to take part in this innovative landmark event.
The course is set out on the start / finish straight of Aintree's historic Grand Prix circuit. It's the first time since the Aintree 200 in 1964 that this part of the circuit has been used for a competitive car event, and 55 years on from the 1955 British Grand Prix at Aintree, Stirling Moss's first ever Grand Prix victory.
Spectators will have access to Aintree's fabulous grandstands, with dramatic views over the circuit and the famous Grand National course, which is alongside the Speed Sprint track.
The course will be opened by an Aston Martin DB2/4 which took part in Aintree's first ever motor race in 1954, a race which saw Duncan Hamilton drive his Jaguar C-type to victory. The Club is hoping that several other iconic cars from the circuit's history will take their part in on-track demonstrations.
Neville Hay, one of the most respected personalities from the world of historic motor sport, will commentate at the event.
For more details, Entry Form and Regulations, visit: www.aintree.org.uk
*Subject to minimum 30 entries per category.
American cars, bikes and commercial vehicles meet 7 April 10

Lytham Enterprise Group have contacted us about a car meet next Thursday evening.
"Lytham Enterprise Group is a local voluntary initiative to attract visitors to Lytham and the surrounding areas.
We are organising an evening meeting for American cars, bikes and commercial vehicles on 15 April 2010 at the Cafe in Lowther Gardens, Lytham, from 6.00pm until sunset and beyond. Indeed, any vehicle that has an American connection would be welcome eg, anything with an American engine such as Buick/Rover V8, TVR's, kit cars, replicas, classic British Fords etc etc. but if in doubt please turn up anyway!
If successful, we hope to make this a regular meeting once a month during the Spring, Summer and early Autumn months. We may also be able to arrange similar meetings for other car groups such as classics, sports, various clubs etc.
The Cafe will be open for refreshments, snacks and evening meals. As you may know, the area is ideal to enjoy a relaxed drive to and the surroundings will be great on a warm Summers evening, with safe parking and family facilities to make a whole evening of it.
All we need is as much support as we can get. With this in mind, we would like to invite all the members of your club who would be interested in attending, even if they don't have an American connection, but are just interested in what we hope will be an enjoyable evening out for vehicle enthusiasts."

Piece Hall and Myerscough College 6 April 10
I've just added another event to the calendar for May 23rd. This is a TVR meet organised by West Yorkshire region held at Piece Hall in Halifax. This is the second time this has been arranged. Some photo's from the last meet : photos
The 23rd is a popular day in our calendar, as there is S Club Heaven, Blackpool Vehicle Preservation Group and now Piece Hall.
We have also been invited by Myerscough College to attend their open day along with other car clubs. Again this is a popular day as it clashes with Tatton and the BTCC racing @ Oulton Park.
Both of these events will be discussed at the next club meet.
ROAR 2010 1 April 10
ROAR, the annual Chimaera get together are opening their doors to all TVR models this year.

At the April club meet we will be asking if there are any members interested in forming a Blackpool Region team. If you are interested drop me an email
